Cookeville, TN - The Humane Society of Putnam County has sent invitations to 501(c)(3) organizations in the Upper Cumberland who offer spay/neuter assistance to Upper Cumberland residents to apply for a matching grant to assist them in their missions. Grant cycles will continue while funding is available. Individuals seeking financial assistance should contact organizations in their areas that offer spay/neuter assistance.

Cookeville, TN - The Humane Society of Putnam County has received word from the Attorney General that the transfer of assets to Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue has been approved. Cookeville, TN - The Humane Society of Putnam County has agreed to transfer assets and supplies used in the operation of the former Major Michael Shipley Memorial Spay Neuter Clinic to Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue with the intention of them re-opening a spay/neuter clinic located at the same location of 180 Miller Road, Cookeville. The appropriate paperwork has been submitted to the State of Tennessee Attorney General and a decision is expected no later than March 31,2023.

Cookeville, TN. – The Humane Society of Putnam County is seeking a current 501c(3) organization or governmental agency to assume operation of the Major Michael Shipley Memorial Spay Neuter Clinic. Interested groups should send a business plan, IRS determination letter, and past five years of financial records (newer groups can send fewer years) to humanesocietyofputnamcounty@yahoo.com. Cookeville, TN. – The Humane Society of Putnam County board of directors have made the difficult decision to temporarily cease operating the Major Michael Shipley Memorial Spay Neuter Clinic. At this time, we are initiating a thorough review of finances, staffing and management in order to ensure a sustainable business model for the future.
We recognize the value of this asset to the community and look forward to sharing news of our progress toward re-opening.
