HSPC Spay Neuter Clinic Receives $25,000 Grant from PetSmart Charities® to Neuter Putnam County Pets

Cookeville, TN. The Humane Society received a $25,000 grant this week to increase its number of spay/neuter operations by 15 percent. The organization’s pet sterilization program, now in its third year, successfully alters more than 4,000 animals per year to proactively fight the area’s dire homeless pet overpopulation problem.

The Spay Neuter Clinic offers low cost spay/neuter services for pets residing in the Upper Cumberland Development District. While there is some financial funding available for anyone in the UCDD, this new grant will by used solely for sterilization of dogs and cats owned by low-income residents residing in Putnam County.

“We are excited to increase the total number of spay/neuter surgeries at our organization,” said Linda Clemons, executive director of the Spay Neuter Clinic. “We believe that only by implementing widespread sterilization programs, and only by spaying and neutering all companion animals, can we begin to solve the crisis of pet overpopulation by simply having fewer unwanted litters born in our community
